Get to Know Mrs. Pierce
I am so excited for the 2021-2022 school year! As I enter my fourth year teaching at Lincoln Trail (18th year overall teaching art), I cannot wait to see what wonderful art is made by our Lincoln Trail artists!
I grew up in Fairbury, Illinois, and currently live in Fisher with my husband and our two kids. In my free time, I love to craft (sew, cross stitch, needle felt), make art (drawing, painting, photography) and spend quality time with my family (movies, swimming, camping). I am also proud to be 4H Leader.
I graduated from the University of Illinois in 2003. I then started my teaching career at Prairie Central School District. My teaching focused on elementary art (K-6) for the first 7 years, and then middles school art (5-8) art for the last 7 years. In 2012, I graduated from Saint Xavier University with a Master's Degree in Teaching and Leadership. I still love to learn about the ever changing world of art making and education.
While product is very important, my teaching focuses on the process of art making and helping students strengthen their inner artist. I believe that everyone can be an artist and my role as an art teacher is to help students see and appreciate all that the visual arts have to offer.
