December 15-December 18It is hard to believe, but the first semester of the 2020-2021 school year is complete! It was a busy week here in the art room wrapping up all the loose ends that comes with teaching art. Although teaching virtually presented some big challenges, it also provided an opportunity to learn and grow (322 Google Meetings later!). I am so grateful for all the hard work I saw on the other side of the computer this semester! This week students applied the basic information taught last week through our building a tangram lesson (using Google Drawings). Students could either choose to work on a tangram challenge or free draw in Google Drawings during class this week. It was awesome to see students complete and customize their puzzles and see all the cool original pieces they created. Instructions were the same for all grades. Video instructions can be found here:
All first semester Google Classrooms have been archived which means if class was missed this past week and needs to be made up, a student could create an original Google Drawings drawing and share it with me.
Our Encore schedule changes when we return in January. which means all classes will have new Google Classrooms with each of their Encore teachers. Those will be set up the first 3 days of school before our first official rotation begins. Since all in person students will be together all day in the second half of the year, I am trading in my computer (for the most part) for a cart and will travel from classroom to classroom to teach. Remote students will still meet virtually in the afternoons, but each classroom teacher will have their own Encore time slot (yay!). I am sure new challenges will come with this new schedule, but it will be so nice to see more faces in person. Enjoy your winter break!
